Kloop Media Lawyers File Cassation Appeal to Supreme Court Against Bishkek City Court Decision
Lawyers of Kloop Media foundation have filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court against the Bishkek City Court decision of May 17. This information was reported in the Telegram channel Kloop.
The City Court refused to consider the appeal against the lower instance decision to liquidate the foundation, citing missed deadlines for filing the complaint.
The lawyers of Kloop consider this decision to be "unlawful and unfounded." Therefore, they are requesting the Supreme Court to overturn it and send the appeal for substantive review.
It is worth noting that on August 28 last year, the Bishkek Prosecutor Emilbek Abdymanapov filed a lawsuit in court for the liquidation of the public foundation Kloop Media. The lawsuit stated that "the majority of publications have a negative character aimed at discrediting representatives of state and municipal authorities," and "Kloop Media publications contain hidden manipulations of public opinion, imposing negative processes that do not correspond to reality, and create opposition to any initiatives of the current government."
The prosecutor cited several headlines and materials from Kloop.kg, which, according to the supervisory authority, sharply criticize the authorities. Additionally, the prosecution believed that the public foundation had concealed a large sum of funds.
In April 2024, the Oktyabrsky District Court issued a decision to liquidate the Kloop Media Public Foundation.
