Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov met with the leader of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries in Ashgabat. The meeting was reported by the government's press service.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed greetings to President Sadyr Japarov. In return, Akylbek Japarov conveyed greetings from Sadyr Japarov.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the 300th anniversary of the birth of the prominent classic of Turkmen literature, Magtymguly Fragi, and expressed gratitude for the unveiling of the monument to the great Kyrgyz writer, the son of the entire Turkic world, Chinghiz Aitmatov, in the cultural and park complex named after Magtymguly Fragi.
Akylbek Japarov highlighted the importance of strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries, developing transit transport issues, electricity imports, and other aspects of bilateral cooperation. In 2023, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $63,546,000.
"There is significant untapped trade, economic, and investment potential in Kyrgyz-Turkmen relations. I believe it is necessary to further increase volumes, expand the range of mutual supplies, and seek opportunities for joint entry into the markets of third countries," stated the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed interest in further developing mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.
In conclusion of the meeting, Akylbek Japarov mentioned that the Kyrgyz side is looking forward to the visit of the head of Turkmenistan and the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Kyrgyzstan.
