Kyrgyz and Kazakhstan Prime Ministers Strengthen Bilateral Relations in Turkmenistan Meeting

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektanov during his participation in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The government's press service reported this.

Akylbek Japarov noted that there has been active interaction in Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations since the beginning of the year.

"On April 9, during your working visit to Bishkek, we held comprehensive negotiations on the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, and on April 18-19, President Sadyr Japarov's official visit to Kazakhstan was successfully held, as well as the 6th meeting of the High Interstate Council," he said.

Head of the Cabinet of Ministers pointed out that in order to achieve the set goals of the two states' leaders, both sides should make maximum efforts for the timely implementation of the investment and other projects on the agenda between the countries.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektanov emphasized that the trade and economic vector is an important strategic component of the relationship.

"We must maintain this positive momentum and intensify efforts to achieve a new goal set by the heads of states - to increase the trade turnover to $3 billion," he stated.

In conclusion of the meeting, Akylbek Japarov invited him to participate in the International Energy Investment Forum, which will take place on June 10-11 in Vienna with the support of the World Bank and with the assistance of the Austrian government.

The parties expressed confidence in the further progressive development of partnership in the spirit of strategic cooperation and alliance between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
