Kyrgyzstan's President, Sadyr Japarov, signed a decree appointing early elections for deputies in the Batken single-mandate electoral district No. 2 and the Kara-Suu single-mandate electoral district No. 9. The elections are set for April 28, 2024.
The Central Election Commission has been tasked with organizing the elections in accordance with Kyrgyzstan's legislation, while the government is to allocate funds, ensure the legality, rights, and freedoms of citizens, maintain public order, and update the data of the Unified State Register of the population to form accurate voter lists. The Cabinet of Ministers is also responsible for assisting the Central Election Commission in ensuring cybersecurity of electronic information systems used in the electoral process.
Earlier, the Central Election Commission prematurely terminated the powers of deputies Iskender Matraimov and Nurlan Razhabaliev. The TV channel "Region TV" aired segments linking Jogorku Kenesh deputies with Rayimbek Matraimov, the former customs officer Iskender Matraimov's brother, Aybek Osmonov, Shailoobek Atazov, and the initiator of the foreign agents bill, Nadir Narmatov.
In the segments, it was suggested that these Jogorku Kenesh members should voluntarily resign or be stripped of their mandates. The footage also mentioned Abdvakhap Boronbaev from the "Ata Jurt Kyrgyzstan" faction, whose powers were recently terminated prematurely, and Saidbek Zulpuev took over the mandate.
Journalists posted four video reports on YouTube. The State Committee for National Security declared Rayimbek Matraimov wanted for alleged involvement in restricting a person's freedom of movement through violent detention without signs of an official crime.
The chief editor of "Region TV," Otkurbek Rahmanov, confirmed in a conversation with journalist Adyl Akzhol uulu that the channel belongs to Kamchybek Tashiev.
