Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has instructed to withdraw the draft law on mass media, as announced by his spokesperson Askat Alagozov on Facebook. The decision came after a meeting between the President and media leaders where the draft law was discussed.
The draft law on mass media, proposed by the President's administration, was submitted to the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) in early January. This was the fifth version of the document, developed by a working group established by President Japarov in December 2022. However, the law was not finalized, as it did not receive unanimous approval from all members of the group and did not undergo detailed article-by-article discussions.
