President Sadyr Japarov Stands Firm Against Potential Protests

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

President Sadyr Japarov, in an interview with the state news agency "Kabar," addressed rumors of potential protests in the country. He stated that the authorities are not afraid of protests and emphasized his commitment to working tirelessly for the country.

"I am not someone who will run away or hide when I see those who come to protests to pursue their personal interests. I would be scared if I had robbed the state, secured good jobs for my relatives, and plunged the republic into crisis. On the contrary, my team and I work diligently day and night. We have barely pulled the country out of the swamp. We have eliminated corruption, theft in customs and tax systems, and tripled the budget. Otherwise, let's leave the development as it is now. In 2020, we took loans from abroad to cover salaries, pensions, and benefits," the head of state said.

He warned that those planning to participate in protests will face a tough response. "If there are those who come to protests and say that the past era of theft was good, we will not pat them on the head. The response will be tough. Because our cause is just. The majority of people will not support them. They will support us," emphasized Sadyr Japarov.
