Former MP Jeanibek Bakchiev Released from Custody by Court Decision

Former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Jeanibek Bakchiev, has been released from custody. The decision was made yesterday evening by the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.

According to defense representatives, the investigator submitted a motion to cancel the arrest of the detainee to the court. By the court's decision, Jeanibek Bakchiev was released on a written undertaking not to leave.

It is worth noting that the former parliamentarian was detained in October 2023, although this information only became known in mid-November. He is charged under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic for "Illegal Production of Narcotic Drugs".
