Development of Russian-Kyrgyz dictionary of legislative terms initiated in Jogorku Kenesh

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Jogorku Kenesh is currently working on creating a Russian-Kyrgyz dictionary of legislative terms, as reported by the parliament's press service. The first meeting of the interdepartmental working group was chaired by Deputy Toraga Nurlanbek Azygaliev.

The main goal of this initiative is to organize explanations and interpretations of terms used in laws to eliminate any confusion. The need for a Russian-Kyrgyz dictionary arose after the law on the state language was passed last summer, mandating officials and deputies to speak exclusively in Kyrgyz within the parliament and ministries.

The head of the working group highlighted the importance of clarifying international terms to ensure their consistent and accurate use in applying the country's legislative acts. The aim is to align these terms into a unified system in accordance with the requirements of the state language.

According to Melis Murataliev, Chairman of the National Commission on State Language and Language Policy under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, these issues should have been addressed with special attention from the early years of independence. He expressed confidence that practical results will soon be presented.

In addition to the legislative terms dictionary, there are plans to prepare an explanatory dictionary of legal terms, further enhancing clarity and consistency in the legal language used in Kyrgyzstan.
