in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has received nine applications from individuals intending to run for seats in the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) in the Batken No. 2 and Kara-Suu No. 9 single-mandate electoral districts. In the Batken district, Alimberdi Begmatov, Kenesh Salikhov, Baktyyar Kalpaev, and Maksatbek Dyikanov have submitted applications for self-nomination. In the Kara-Suu district, Ganisher Badalov, Bakytbek Bakir, Turdubek Orunbaev, Stalbek Azhimamatov, and Ilimbek Kubanychbekov are running for office.

The CEC reminded that the nomination of candidates in both districts will conclude on March 26. Early elections will also take place in the Osh single-mandate district, but as of now, no applications have been received by the CEC. The deadline for candidate nominations in Osh is March 28.

It is important to note that early elections for parliament members in the Batken and Kara-Suu single-mandate electoral districts will be held on April 28. These seats became vacant after the CEC prematurely terminated the mandates of Iskender Matraimov and Nurlan Razhabaliev based on their submitted applications. On the same day, early elections will also be held for a deputy in the Osh single-mandate district, following Aibek Osmonov's resignation.
