Today marks exactly 22 years since the events in the Aksy District of the Jalal-Abad Region. President Sadyr Japarov has addressed the Kyrgyz people on this day of remembrance.

In his address, President Japarov acknowledges that the Aksy events "led to a collective struggle against authoritarian rule and became the first political event in Kyrgyzstan's recent history that claimed the lives of ordinary citizens."

Each year on this day, we remember the true heroes and honor the memory of the people of Aksy, who, by not bowing down to the clan regime, sacrificed their lives for the integrity of the Kyrgyz Republic, the freedom of the people, and the future of a democratic and open state. The heroes of the Aksy events have become an example of courage, a will for freedom, and democracy.

President Japarov promises in his address that the state will do everything to live up to the people's hopes. He emphasizes the ongoing reforms aimed at addressing various issues in the country, all achieved with the support of the united Kyrgyz people.

The President calls for living in harmony, providing proper education to the younger generation, and contributing to the development of the state to honor the sacrifices made for justice. Let peace, stability, and unity reign in Kyrgyzstan!

It is essential to remember the tragic events that unfolded in Aksy 22 years ago, where peaceful demonstrators were met with gunfire, resulting in the loss of several lives. Experts highlight that the Aksy events were a turning point that catalyzed the state coup on March 24, 2005, leading to the overthrow of President Askar Akayev.
