Kyrgyzstan has allocated 275 million som for its athletes participating in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. This was announced by Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy Altynbek Maksutov during a joint session of the parliamentary faction "Ata Jurt Kyrgyzstan" and the deputy group "Mekenchil."
Maksutov mentioned that active preparations have been ongoing since January for the qualification and licensing tournaments. The aim is to secure 27-30 licenses for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, with six licenses already obtained.
A budget of 41 million som has been approved for parasport disciplines, with an additional 100 million som allocated for medications, medical care, education, and training to ensure athletes are well-prepared and receive necessary support.
Maksutov also listed the sports disciplines with a chance to obtain licenses for the Olympic Games. These include judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, women's wrestling, track and field, weightlifting, boxing, canoeing, rowing, pentathlon, swimming, shooting, archery, triathlon, and fencing.
