Kyrgyz wrestler Bekzat Almaz Uulu has clinched the gold medal at the international Yasar Dogu&Vehbi Emre tournament in Turkey. The news was confirmed by Melis Turganbaev, the president of the Kyrgyz Wrestling Federation.
Competing in the 57-kilogram weight category, Almaz Uulu started from the 1/8 stage and defeated an Iranian wrestler. He then went on to beat his teammate Bekbolot Myrzanazar Uulu in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Almaz Uulu triumphed over a wrestler from Kazakhstan, securing his spot in the final. He convincingly outperformed a Russian athlete in the gold medal match, emerging as the tournament champion.
Another Kyrgyz wrestler, Ulukbek Joldoshbekov, claimed the top spot in the 65-kilogram weight category. He achieved four consecutive victories over opponents from Belgium, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan, ultimately reaching the final where he defeated an athlete from Azerbaijan to seize the gold medal.
With this latest success, the Kyrgyz national team has amassed a total of five gold and six bronze medals in the competition.
