Asian Athletics Association has awarded cash prizes to Kyrgyzstani female athletes who excelled at the Asian Half Marathon Championship in November 2023 in the UAE. The news was shared by the Athletics Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic on social media.
Unfortunately, Uzbekistan's runner Sitora Khamidova, who finished second, was disqualified for five years due to the use of banned substances.
As a result, the silver medal went to Sardana Trofimova, who finished third in the UAE, and the bronze was awarded to another Kyrgyzstani, Gulshana Satyrova, who came in fourth.
In the final standings, the Kyrgyzstan national team claimed the top spot, receiving a prize of $20,000. Additionally, Sardana Trofimova received $5,000 for her second-place finish, Gulshana Satyrova earned $3,000 for the bronze, and Maria Korobitskaya was awarded $1,000 for finishing fifth.
