The Tajikistan government has instructed the seizure of irrigated land in the Dusti region and its allocation to the joint Tajik-Chinese enterprise "Juntai Khatlon Xin Silu". According to the government resolution published recently, 6.61 hectares of irrigated arable land from the special fund of the Dusti district in the Khatlon region will be transferred to the company for a period of 20 years for the construction of a cotton processing plant.

The company has committed to compensating for the losses associated with the withdrawal of land from agricultural circulation by transferring approximately 1.8 million somoni (around $165,000) to a special account of the republican budget. Additionally, the company is responsible for the removal and storage of the fertile soil layer, and the acquired land must be used for its designated purpose.

The State Committee for Land Management and Geodesy of the republic is tasked with ensuring the state registration of the land plot and its usage rights after the reimbursement of funds. According to the press service of the President of Tajikistan, "Juntai Khatlon Xin Silu" has been operating in the Dusti region since 2015, focusing on cotton cultivation.

During a presidential visit to the Dusti region in 2022, it was reported that the company plans to bring an additional 500 hectares of uncultivated land into circulation in the future. This initiative is expected to further boost the agricultural sector and strengthen cooperation between Tajikistan and China in the cotton industry.
