in Economy / Tajikistan - by

President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, has issued a decree to establish immigration quotas and attract foreign labor to the country for the year 2024. The decree, published on the Ministry of Justice's legal information portal, aims to organize and regulate the processes of labor migration of foreign citizens to Tajikistan.

According to the document, the quota for immigration and attracting foreign labor to the country for the current year is set at 6500 people, which is 1000 fewer compared to the quotas set by the president's decree in 2023. The accompanying information states that 4440 quotas (68.3% of the total) are allocated to citizens of China.

The remaining quotas are distributed to citizens of various countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, India, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and others. Around one-third of the foreign workers (2000 quotas) will be able to work in Dushanbe, with others distributed across different regions of the country.

The quotas are designated for foreign workers in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, trade, agriculture, energy, education, geology, public catering, utilities, communication, healthcare, transportation, sports, and other industries. This move aims to regulate and support the labor market in Tajikistan, ensuring a balanced influx of foreign workers to contribute to the country's economy and development.
