On April 1, 2024, a ceremony was held in Dushanbe to mark the reception of the first direct shipment of bilateral cargo under the Transit Trade Agreement between Tajikistan and Pakistan. The event was attended by Tajikistan's Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim, Pakistan's Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Said Sarwar, and the Director-General of the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) Farruh Shahzad Rao.

The ceremony aimed to highlight the significance of the first batch of goods transported from Pakistan to Tajikistan under the bilateral transit trade agreement and the multilateral International Road Transport System (TIR). The transit trade agreement was signed during the visit of Tajikistan's president to Pakistan in December 2022 and came into effect in February 2024.

This agreement allows Tajikistan to utilize Pakistan's seaports in Karachi and Gwadar for exporting and importing goods, as well as facilitating direct movement of trucks between the two countries. This step demonstrates both countries' commitment to enhancing trade relations and expanding opportunities for business and economic cooperation.

The arrival of the first direct shipment of goods opens up new prospects for further cooperation and the development of trade relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan. Pakistan places great importance on its relationship with Tajikistan, seeing it as an opportunity to strengthen regional integration and ties.
