Investment Forum Strengthens Economic Ties Between Tajikistan and Italy

In the framework of the official visit of Emomali Rahmon to Italy, an investment forum of Tajikistan and Italy took place in Rome on April 24. The event was attended by over 100 companies from both sides, as reported by the press service of the President of Tajikistan.

The forum also saw the participation of leaders and officials from ministries and government agencies, entrepreneurs, investors, representatives of companies from various sectors of the economy of Tajikistan and Italy.

During the forum, the possibility of cooperation between business circles and investors of the two countries in the fields of industry, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, services, information technology, and other priority areas was discussed.

The investment opportunities of Tajikistan and incentives in this direction were presented by the Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Sulton Rahimzoda, the industrial opportunities of the country by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, and the energy opportunities by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma.

Moreover, the management and representatives of WeBuild and Carrera companies provided participants with detailed information about the experience and activities of Italian companies in Tajikistan.

Within the forum, bilateral meetings between entrepreneurs of both countries in the "entrepreneur with entrepreneur" format and between the public and private sectors of both sides took place, during which issues of trade and investments were discussed.

Following the forum, bilateral documents on cooperation totaling over $160 million were signed. Among them:

  • An agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Italian company Marzoli Macchine Tessili SRL for $100 million.
  • An agreement between the domestic company Gayur Gurukh and the Italian company Sacomi Imola S.C on launching a production line of ceramic products for $35 million.
  • An agreement between the Tajik company Greenfoods and the Italian company Anselmo Impianti Srl on launching a production line of pasta products for over 1 million Euros.

The forum participants decided to continue holding such meetings regularly, as they contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation, increasing export potential, attracting investments, importing modern technologies, and strengthening the economic and investment cooperation between Tajikistan and Italy.

It is worth noting that on April 23, within Emomali Rahmon's visit to the Italian Republic, a Protocol on cooperation to enhance the professional level of Tajik football coaches and train our football players in Italian football academies was signed between the Vice President of the Tajikistan Football Federation and the leadership of the Italian Football Federation.

Prior to this, after the conclusion of official meetings and negotiations, Tajikistan and Italy signed 7 new documents of cooperation.
