The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) intends to sign a series of "green" credit agreements within the framework of the "Green City Dushanbe" Action Plan and in support of entrepreneurship and women's commerce. All documents are planned to be signed during the visit of EBRD President Odile Rena-Basso to the republic.

The press service of the head of state reported that following a meeting with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Odile Rena-Basso stated that they discussed the country's strategic priorities and EBRD's support in climate change issues, entrepreneurship and private sector development, digitalization, regional integration of the national economy, and strengthening the export potential of the "green economy."

"Last year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development celebrated 30 years of activity in the Republic of Tajikistan. I am very pleased to be in Tajikistan and witness the results of our work," noted Odile Rena-Basso.

The President of EBRD emphasized that the Bank is one of the largest investors in Tajikistan and supports the energy, water, transport, banking, and small and medium-sized enterprises sectors.

Emomali Rahmon, in turn, thanked the bank's management for the constant and fruitful relations over the past 30 years.

"We highly appreciate the current level of our cooperation with the bank and have high expectations for it to achieve the country's development goals," he said.

It was expressed during the meeting that in the future, more agreements aimed at improving the population's livelihoods and supporting sustainable development of the country will be signed.

Emomali Rahmon and Odile Rena-Basso discussed the implementation process of projects financed by EBRD, especially in strengthening the financial system, energy, water supply, and improving the quality of municipal services.

Given the negative impact of external factors on some macroeconomic indicators of Tajikistan and the economy's resilience to current threats and risks, it was deemed necessary to attract more investments and continue the reform process.

Other areas of cooperation mentioned included promoting the development of industrial sectors, agriculture, mining, urban infrastructure development, particularly the drinking water supply system, housing and communal services, digitalization of various economic sectors, implementation of "green" technologies, as well as education and labor migration.

Odile Rena-Basso arrived in Tajikistan on April 29 for a two-day visit.

Over 30 years of cooperation, the bank has invested 947 million euros in 168 projects across the country.
