Intergovernmental Commission Meeting Between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Held in Dushanbe

The meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan took place today in Dushanbe, as reported by NIAT "Khovar".

Negotiations were held in a narrow format, discussing the entire range of bilateral issues. During the extended meeting, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, highlighted the rich historical traditions and constructive interaction between the two states.

It was noted that in 2023, the mutual trade turnover between the two countries exceeded 500 million dollars, with Uzbekistan ranking fifth in Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover.

The Tajik side expressed readiness to collaborate with Uzbek industrial enterprises in designing and establishing large industrial parks in Tajikistan. Emphasis was placed on the need for relevant authorities to explore ways to develop cooperation.

Specifically, in the textile and garment industry, joint production of agricultural machinery and equipment, food processing, mining and metallurgical industries, equipment manufacturing for renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, production of medicines, construction materials, information technology, and electronics - there exist significant untapped potentials in all these areas.

Both sides stressed the importance of concerted efforts to reach specific agreements to realize these opportunities. The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, highlighted Tajikistan as a close neighbor, loyal friend, reliable strategic partner, and ally of Uzbekistan.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the protocol of the intergovernmental commission.
