The number of officially registered unemployed in Tajikistan at the beginning of this year amounted to 48.3 thousand people, as reported by the country's Statistical Agency. This marks a 12.1% decrease compared to November and a 9.7% decrease compared to the same period last year.

According to the agency's data, women make up 46.3% of the registered unemployed. The share of officially registered unemployed in the total number of able-bodied individuals was 1.8%. By the beginning of this year, the workforce in Tajikistan was around 2.7 million people.

It is important to note that these figures represent only those unemployed individuals who have registered with the country's Ministry of Labor's employment agencies. The actual number of unemployed in the country may be much higher.

According to Tajikistan's Ministry of Labor, around 600 thousand people work in Russia. However, Russian statistics indicate that over 1 million individuals have arrived from Tajikistan.

The average salary in Tajikistan, according to the Statistical Agency, was 2381 somoni ($217) at the end of last year, while in Russia, according to Rosstat, it was 103,815 rubles ($1146).
