Embassy of Turkmenistan Hosts Chess Tournament Honoring Mahtumkuli Fragi

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Washington organized and held a chess tournament on April 23, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Mahtumkuli Fragi. This information was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The tournament participants included diplomats accredited in the United States from countries in Central Asia, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Georgia, and Belarus. Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Meret Orazov, spoke to those present about the life and creative legacy of Mahtumkuli Fragi, highlighting the significant importance of his works for world culture. Alongside the tournament, an exhibition of Turkmen literature and the country's cultural heritage was organized, with a key component being the works of the great poet and thinker Mahtumkuli Fragi.

The winners of the chess tournament were awarded with books by Mahtumkuli and commemorative gifts from the Embassy of Turkmenistan.
