Deputy Prosecutor in Uzbekistan Suspected of Taking $2000 Bribe: Official Sources

The Deputy Prosecutor of the Kushtepinsky District in the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan is suspected of receiving a bribe in the amount of 2000 dollars. This information was reported by the press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan, Khayot Shamsutdinov.

The deputy prosecutor of the district was detained on April 27 at 18:30 during an operational event conducted by the employees of the Fergana Regional Office of the State Security Service and the regional prosecutor's office.

According to the report, he promised the accused to mitigate the punishment in one of the criminal cases through his acquaintances.

A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (fraud) and 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, and the suspect has been detained. The investigation is ongoing.
