Raimbek Matraimov must return $200 million to the state. This was announced by the head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) Kamchybek Tashiev on the eve of May 16, speaking in Kara-Suu.

According to him, the "cleansing" of the Jogorku Kenesh from people associated with former customs official Raimbek Matraimov has been completed, but such individuals still exist in state bodies.

"The mayor and the head of the region must work well and give us suggestions about people connected with Matraimov. No one will be able to save anyone. Because corruption flourished, stadiums, schools, roads were in a deplorable state, and the state was powerless," said the head of the GKNB.

He also added that "Raimbek Matraimov must hand over $200 million to the state. This is approximately 19-20 billion soms."

"When we first arrested Raimbek Matraimov, he paid 2 billion 200 million soms. Personally, I then set a condition: not to commit any further criminal actions, not to rob the state, and not even to come close to the Customs Service. He agreed, and we released him. Half a year, a year later, they started again. Through customs officers, Matraimov began to steal more than before. They teamed up with the thief-in-law Kamchi Kolbaev and threatened businessmen. We had to take action," said Kamchybek Tashiev.

Former Deputy Chairman of the Customs Service Raimbek Matraimov with his brothers was arrested at the end of March in Baku and brought to Bishkek.

Raimbek Matraimov is charged with "Illegal deprivation of liberty" and "Money laundering of proceeds obtained by criminal means" under the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation is ongoing.
