Several pharmaceutical companies in Kazakhstan have been caught in a cartel conspiracy and fined.
The Agency for Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) conducted an investigation, during which cases of the pharmaceutical companies TOO "KFK Medservice Plus", TOO "Aknyet", and TOO "Stofarm" were examined in court. They were held accountable for participating in a cartel conspiracy in the procurement of services for the transportation and storage of medicinal products conducted by TOO "SK-Farmatsiya".
"As a result of the legal proceedings, the organizations involved in the conspiracy were held administratively responsible and fined a total of 342 million tenge. The court confirmed that these pharmaceutical companies pre-arranged and distributed lots among themselves, creating a semblance of competition, which is a violation of the antimonopoly legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the APDC stated on May 20th.
On May 17th, the APDC reported on a cartel conspiracy uncovered in the East Kazakhstan region.
