The Prosecutor's Office of the Nura District in Astana has initiated a criminal case regarding the embezzlement by a private bailiff of over 1 million tenge intended for child support payments.

Over the course of a year, the bailiff transferred the debtor's money to his own son's account instead of the mother of the minor child, the Astana Prosecutor's Office revealed.

Unaware of the bailiff's misappropriation of funds, the mother had repeatedly requested the private bailiff to take action against the debtor.

The criminal case concerning the abuse of authority has been forwarded to the court for further proceedings.

On May 10, the official representative of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Uali, disclosed during a briefing that the total outstanding child support debt of Kazakhstani citizens amounts to 14.6 billion tenge.
