Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Sign Alliance Treaty to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has signed a law ratifying the treaty on allied relations with Uzbekistan, as announced by the press service of the Kazakh leader.

The treaty was signed by the heads of the two states on December 22, 2022, in Tashkent.

President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasized that the alliance treaty "serves the fundamental interests of both fraternal peoples and marks a new stage in the history of Uzbek-Kazakh relations. An alliance is the highest and most trusted level of intergovernmental partnership. Thus, we have confirmed our intention to build a common future."

"This groundbreaking document opens up new horizons for us and fully reflects the mutual desire of the two countries for further rapprochement," stated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

President of Uzbekistan ratified the treaty on November 30, 2023.

The document aims to expand cooperation in political, trade and economic, transit and transport, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, civil defense, and energy, while also providing for the strengthening of interaction on the international stage.
