In Kyrgyzstan, the fourth Russian Film Festival organized by "Roskino" with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Cinema Foundation has recently taken place. This year, the festival expanded its reach to not only Bishkek but also Osh. Residents of the southern capital were treated to screenings of the most popular films of recent years, including "Cheburashka" and "The Challenge."
The week of Russian cinema in Osh kicked off on April 12 with the screening of the film "The Challenge" by director Klim Shipenko. The story follows thoracic surgeon Zhenya Belyaeva, who must prepare for a space flight to save an ill cosmonaut aboard the ISS.
Vladimir Labutin, the marketing director of "Roskino," highlighted the significance of the festival in showcasing top-grossing Russian films from the past two years. The second day featured a diverse lineup, with the beloved classic "Cheburashka" and the war drama "The Air" capturing the audience's attention.
Renowned director Boris Khlebnikov presented his film "The Bullfinch," engaging with the audience and sharing insights into the film's creation. The festival concluded with the screening of "By the Pike's Command" by director Alexander Voytinskiy, which has become a hit of 2023.
The festival in Osh attracted over 800 viewers in just three days, with attendees expressing their appreciation for the diverse film selection and the cultural exchange facilitated by the event. Notable figures like writer Salima Sharipova praised the festival's organization and emphasized the importance of cinema in bringing people together.
The curator of the project, Yulia Bragina, hinted at the festival's future expansion in Kyrgyzstan, possibly including locations like Karakol in the upcoming editions. The festival serves as a platform for promoting Russian cinema, fostering cultural ties, and celebrating the art of storytelling on the big screen.
