Former Minister of Education Kanibek Imanaliev appointed as head of the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan

Former Minister of Education Kanibek Imanaliev has been elected as the chairman of the Kyrgyz National Writers' Union. The announcement was made by the union following the XVI Congress of the Kyrgyz National Writers' Union in Bishkek.

According to the union, four candidates were nominated for the position of chairman, with Kanibek Imanaliev ultimately being elected after a secret ballot. The other candidates included popular poets Kozhogeldi Kultegin, Atantai Akbarov, and Zhediger Saalaev. The chairman is elected for a term of five years. Kanibek Imanaliev succeeds poet Nurlan Kalybekov as the head of the Writers' Union.
