In Hisor, a military enlistment office employee and a district hospital paramedic were detained for fraud against a conscript, the press center of the Republic's Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption reports.

According to the agency, a citizen named F. Amirov filed a complaint stating that he was illegally asked for 17,000 somoni to be included in the list of alternative conscripts.

"The head of the financial and economic department of the Hisor military enlistment office, B. Karimov, and the paramedic of the Hisor Central Hospital, N. Salimov, demanded this amount from him. In late February, they received 8,000 somoni from him and then demanded another 9,000 somoni," the agency said.

In response to the citizen's complaint, an operational-investigative group was formed, which arrested the suspects while receiving 9,000 somoni.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 247 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan (fraud), which carries a penalty of a fine ranging from 365 to 912 indicators for calculations (one indicator equals 72 somoni) or imprisonment for a period of two to five years.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

It is worth noting that conscripts in Tajikistan can opt for paid alternative service. Those interested must apply to the draft commission at their place of residence, be included in the list based on the application submission date and full payment of the service cost. The money is transferred to a special account of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan through "Amonatbank," and the payment receipt must be provided to the military enlistment office within 5 working days after submitting the application. The full amount must be paid at once.

If a conscript fails to pay and provide the receipt on time, they will not be included in the list and will be called up for mandatory military service.
