The Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption of Tajikistan is investigating the embezzlement of more than 142,000 somoni from the state budget during the construction of a dining hall at the National Testing Center. According to the agency's press center, the inspection revealed that the director of LLC "Loik" A. Saidov used fewer construction materials during the building in 2023.

"This allowed him to misappropriate 142,693 somoni from the state budget. During the same period, Saidov prepared a fake certificate of completed works, in which he inflated the cost of construction materials and the volume of work done. After that, he submitted this forged document to the National Testing Center," the statement said.

Regarding this matter, a criminal case was initiated against A. Saidov and his accomplices, whose names were not disclosed, under articles 245 (Misappropriation or Embezzlement) and 340 (Forgery, Manufacture, or Sale of Counterfeit Documents, State Awards, Stamps, Seals, Blanks) of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan. After the completion of the preliminary investigation, the case was referred to the court for consideration.

Under the first article, he faces a fine ranging from 192 to 1,824 calculation indicators (one indicator is 72 somoni) or imprisonment for a period of 6 to 10 years with a prohibition to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 4 years.

Under the second article, a fine ranging from 250 to 365 calculation indicators, correctional labor for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for the same period is applicable.
