Former Director of Shahrinav Lyceum in Tajikistan Accused of Financial Document Falsification

The former director of the "Professional-Technical Lyceum" in the Shahrinav district, Yakubi L., is accused of falsifying personal files and accounting documents for 69 former employees and outsiders. They allegedly issued bank cards in their names and transferred salaries totaling 470,583 somoni monthly, later withdrawing and using the funds for personal needs, causing significant damage to the state. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against Yakubi L. and his accomplices under articles 245 and 323 of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan for misappropriation and forgery. The case has been sent to court following the completion of the preliminary investigation.

Yakubi L. faces a fine or imprisonment of 10 to 15 years for misappropriation, and a fine, corrective labor, or imprisonment of up to 2 years for forgery. Last year, Tajikistan's Anti-Corruption Agency uncovered 2,212 corruption and economic crimes. In 2023, the agency recovered 345.4 million somoni for the state, contributing to both the state budget and the budgets of organizations and institutions.
