Head of Shahritus Conscription Commission Arrested for Accepting Bribe of 5,000 Somoni

Deputy Chairman of the Shahritus District, Komiljon Mirzobadalzoda, who was the head of the conscription commission in the district, has been arrested on charges of accepting a bribe of 5,000 somoni. This information was reported by the country's Anti-Corruption Agency.

According to a source, he was apprehended based on a statement from citizen A.S. while receiving the bribe in his own car, the money was seized from him as evidence. Mirzobadalzoda demanded 5,000 somoni from A.S. to exempt his son from military service. This young man was in Russia at the time.

"As a result of the necessary measures, Komiljon Mirzobadalzoda was detained in his own car on I. Somoni Street in the Shahritus community after receiving 5,000 somoni from citizen A.S.," the Agency reported.

A criminal case has been initiated against Mirzobadalzoda under Article 319 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, and he has been placed in pre-trial detention, with the preliminary investigation ongoing. Under this article, he faces a fine ranging from 394,200 somoni to approximately 920,000 somoni, or imprisonment for a period of 3 to 7 years.

The detained citizen's or his lawyer's opinions are currently unavailable. The arrest of the head of the conscription commission of the Shahritus District occurs during the spring conscription campaign, which will last until the end of May this year.
