The director of the statistics department in the Sino district of Dushanbe has been detained on charges of fraud. According to the Anti-Corruption Agency, A. Khukumatzoda demanded 47,000 somoni from a resident of Dushanbe for a construction license in 2023.
He unlawfully demanded the money without authority to issue the license and used it for personal expenses. A criminal case has been initiated against him for fraud under Article 247 of the Tajikistan Criminal Code, and the case has been forwarded to court. Specific dates of the crime and detention have not been disclosed.
