The Committee for Tourism Development under the government of Tajikistan has stated that there is no serious risk of plague in Saratog, located in the Aini District of the Sughd Region, as reported by the department on its Facebook page.
"Statistics from studies conducted by experts of the Republican Center for Combating Quarantine Diseases in cooperation with scientific institutes of the Russian Federation show that the infectious disease plague was only registered in the early 20th century and subsequent years. However, cases of this disease have not been recorded since then, and as of today, the risk of its spread is considered low," the statement said.
It is noted that despite this, considering possible climate changes, there is a possibility of an increased risk of infection in areas with a humid climate. Therefore, it is recommended to take standard safety measures.
In this regard, the Committee, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the country, informs the public about measures to prevent the possible occurrence and infection of the deadly disease plague in Saratog.
The department reminds that the disease can be spread through wild animals, rodents, and biting insects. During trips, it is suggested to choose a place to stay near residential houses in the area. While walking, to protect against insect bites, it is advisable to use insect repellents and pay special attention to clothing (it should be protective).
"It is important to note that these recommendations apply exclusively to Saratog and do not extend to other tourist sites in the Aini District, including the tourist sites of Iskanderkul and the Fann Mountains," the statement said.
