Kyrgyz Health Minister Secures Funding Extension for Medical Care Program

The Minister of Health **Alymkadyr Beishenaliev** discussed the extension and additional financing of the medical care program with the leadership of the World Bank. This was reported by the department's press center.

According to the information provided, the meetings took place during an international dialogue on sustainable financing for the fight against non-communicable diseases and support for mental health in Washington. The decisions were made regarding the further implementation and extension of the "Primary Health Care Quality Improvement Program" funded by the International Development Association (IDA), the German Development Bank (KfW), and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in the Kyrgyz Republic.

As part of the implementation of the "Primary Health Care Quality Improvement Program," $8 million will be received in the second quarter of 2024, and an additional $22 million will be allocated until the completion of the program. These funds will be directed towards the priority areas of the country's primary health care.

Furthermore, there is a discussion on the necessity of signing additional grant funding with a total budget of $11.45 million for technical assistance and the procurement of goods critical to healthcare organizations providing primary medical care.

The "Primary Health Care Quality Improvement Program" has been implemented since 2020. National electronic platforms have been established for collecting and reporting on the quality indicators of medical care provided by healthcare organizations and for on-the-job training. Laboratory equipment has been purchased for over 53 healthcare organizations. Simulation equipment has been acquired for the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute for retraining and qualification improvement.
