New Surveillance Center to Monitor Waste Disposal in Dushanbe

in Society / Tajikistan - by

In an effort to combat the improper disposal of waste in the city of Dushanbe, a new surveillance center equipped with video cameras will be overseeing the situation. The initiative comes as a response to the disorderly dumping of trash, particularly by residents, including children, despite the presence of temporary waste storage facilities.

Abdusalim Juraev, the director of the Stockholm Convention Center on Persistent Organic Pollutants, highlighted the need for stricter monitoring due to the recent surge in haphazard waste disposal.

The city's mayor, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Committee, has decided to install cameras to track down those who unlawfully dispose of their waste. Offenders will face administrative penalties as a deterrent.

The opening of the surveillance center marks a significant step in the city's efforts to tackle the waste issue, according to Farangis Samieva, an environmental specialist. The installation of cameras is just one of the measures taken, as trash bins have been set up in various districts of the capital, and thousands of decorative plants are planted annually.

This spring, the city is taking proactive steps to enhance environmental protection, with a focus on waste management and beautification initiatives.
