Tajikistan's WWII Veterans Receive Financial Aid on Victory Day

In Tajikistan, 24 participants of the Great Patriotic War remain. In addition, the lists of the Council of War and Labor Veterans of Tajikistan include 290 rear veterans.

The largest number of World War II veterans remains in the Khatlon region – 10 people, with six in Sughd, three in Dushanbe, and five residing in districts under republican subordination. There are no veterans left in GBAO.

The press service of the head of state reports that each veteran in Tajikistan will receive 40,000 somoni ($3,663) on behalf of Emomali Rahmon.

The one-time assistance from the president to war participants and veterans will be distributed in cities and districts by representatives of the government and the president's executive office.

Authorities in each region of the country have also provided assistance to veterans.

On the occasion of Victory Day, each participant and invalid of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 residing in the capital will receive 10,000 somoni by decision of the mayor.

In the Sughd region, each war participant will receive payments of around 7,000 somoni. Additionally, 4,000 somoni will be given to labor veterans. In total, the authorities of the Sughd region have allocated 306,000 somoni to aid the heroes this year.

The head of the Khatlon region allocated 5,000 somoni to each war participant, as reported by the head of the social protection department of the regional office, Shodi Azizov. According to him, in accordance with the decision of the regional head, 50,000 somoni has been allocated from the regional budget for 10 World War II participants. They also receive financial assistance from the funds of the cities and districts where they reside.

Azizov mentioned that the head of the Khatlon region, Davlatoli Said, visited one of the participants of the Great Patriotic War, 104-year-old Zaynulla Aliev, residing in the Vakhdat mahalla of the city of Bokhtar.

Zaynulla Aliev was born on November 12, 1920. In 1942, he was mobilized to the Leningrad front and took part in the liberation of Leningrad, Belarus, Moldova, Hungary, and Romania.

On behalf of President Emomali Rahmon, the chairman of the region presented Zaynulla Aliev with 5,000 somoni from the regional budget, as well as 40,000 somoni on behalf of the president.
