World Tuberculosis Day: A Global Effort to Combat Tuberculosis

in Society / Tajikistan - by

Today, the world is observing World Tuberculosis Day, aimed at raising public awareness about the devastating consequences of tuberculosis for health, society, and the economy, and intensifying efforts to combat the global tuberculosis epidemic.

On March 24, 1882, Dr. Robert Koch announced the discovery of the bacterium that causes tuberculosis, leading to the development of diagnostic and treatment methods for this disease.

In Tajikistan, since 2016, amendments to the country's Civil Procedure Code allow for the compulsory treatment of patients with various forms of tuberculosis. If a tuberculosis patient who poses a danger to others refuses treatment, they can be sent for compulsory diagnosis and hospitalization through the court.
