The Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan has signed a contract with the British consulting company EASST Expertise LTD to increase drivers' responsibility for using seat belts while operating vehicles, as reported by the Tajik transport authority.
The agreement was signed as part of the fourth phase of the project "Improving Regional Road Connectivity in Central Asia" (BRAMOM-4).
The document was signed by the Minister of Transport of Tajikistan, Azim Ibrohim, and the Executive Director of Expertise LTD, Emily Carr.
The contract signing ceremony took place last Wednesday in Dushanbe and was attended by the head of the propaganda department of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Saidmumin Khasanzoda, the head of the Foreign Investment Department of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sukhrob Nurullo, and the coordinator of the BRAMOM-4 project of the Project Implementation Group at the Ministry of Transport, Usmon Siddikov.
According to the Ministry of Transport, failure to use a seat belt is subject to administrative sanctions as stipulated by Article 333 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan.
