As part of the National Forest Program, a reforestation campaign was held in the Kopetdag State Reserve by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The initiative, reported by the online publication "TurkmenPortal," involved planting wild plants along the Bacha River and within the reserve.
Over 150 pistachio, almond, and Turkmen juniper seedlings were planted by fifty volunteers, including members of the Agrarian Party and representatives of the Environmental Protection Department of the Ahal Velaya. Apart from planting the seedlings, the participants also cleaned up the riverbank.
The head of the reserve, D. Seyitmukhammedov, highlighted that native tree species adapt better to the climate and soil, contributing to the reinforcement of the riverbanks. The reforestation effort not only enhances the biodiversity of the area but also promotes environmental sustainability in Turkmenistan's natural reserves.
