The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has responded to the emerging information that tourists from Kazakhstan set fire to an island in Greece with fireworks.
Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, stated that the Kazakh consul immediately contacted the Greek authorities after the information was published.
"The police reported that among the detained citizens of Kazakhstan, there were none and no claims were made against them either," the statement said.
The Greek authorities arrested 13 people who launched fireworks from a yacht, causing a forest fire on the island near Athens. Several Greek media outlets reported that the fire was started by Kazakhstani individuals.
