On March 19, a Turkmen delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, met with the Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization, Jan Sonders. The Turkmen side highlighted efforts to join international customs systems and WTO conventions. The discussion included the possibility of Turkmenistan's State Customs Service specialists participating in educational and qualification programs of the WTO. Additionally, the potential establishment of a regional WTO training center at Turkmenistan's State Customs Service was considered.
The WTO Secretary-General expressed readiness to assist in the development and improvement of Turkmenistan's customs system. This meeting signifies a step towards enhancing Turkmenistan's customs capabilities through collaboration with the World Customs Organization.
