On March 27th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili. The delegation arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the International Conference "Key Directions and Potential for Tourism Development in Turkmenistan," as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the further development of Turkmenistan's tourism industry in cooperation with the UNWTO. The implementation of joint investment projects in the field of tourism, the training of guides with the assistance of the UNWTO Academy, and support within the UNWTO Silk Road Tourism Program were among the topics considered.
Additionally, issues related to the participation of the UNWTO in the work of the Strategic Advisory Council "Turkmenistan-UN" and the development and implementation of Turkmenistan's cooperation program in the tourism sector for 2024-2025 were addressed.
