A delegation from Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy B. Yalakov, who arrived in Bangkok to participate in the 80th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, held a meeting on April 24 with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the support of the initiative to establish a Multilateral Partnership Trust Fund of the United Nations and the resolution adopted by Turkmenistan on the Aral Sea during the 79th session of ESCAP.
The prospects for expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and ESCAP were discussed, including with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific within the framework of SPECA. The Executive Secretary of ESCAP noted readiness for active cooperation with Turkmenistan in various areas.
