On May 17 in Ashgabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the Director of the Regional Office of UNESCO in Almaty, Amir Pirich. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on this event.
During the meeting, the significant contribution of the Regional Office to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO in the preservation and promotion of historical, cultural, and natural heritage, education, sports, and digitalization was noted. The field of archaeology was identified as a promising area for further partnership development.
The parties discussed the current issues related to the development of the regional project "Our Heritage" initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov. The importance of cooperation towards a Framework Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNESCO was emphasized. The possibility of opening a UNESCO office in Turkmenistan was also deliberated upon.
