In accordance with ancient traditions, Turkmenistan celebrates International Nowruz Day with color and grandeur. On March 21st, Persian and Turkic peoples mark Nowruz on the day of the spring equinox.
During the Nowruz celebration in Turkmenistan, yurts are set up, participants dance in national costumes, meat is cooked over a fire, and handmade carpets are sold in tents. The celebration in Turkmenistan wouldn't be complete without the Akhal-Teke horses. A special attraction for guests was a camel with its calf named Yhlas, which garnered widespread interest.
Participants were treated to traditional dishes prepared specifically for the spring equinox day. One of the traditional festive treats was sprouted wheat known as sabza.
Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin noted that Nowruz is celebrated in various regions worldwide, including Russia.
