Two students from Turkmenistan, Resul Mammedgurbanov and Khalmurat Allaberdiev, were detained in Petrozavodsk for attacking a man during a road conflict. The incident was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karelia, while the Telegram channel "Multinational" and the blog Avia.Pro revealed the attackers' identities and other details.
On March 2, 27-year-old Resul and Khalmurat, who came to Russia to study at a university, were driving in Petrozavodsk in a Lada car. At some point, the driver of a Skoda car did not give them way. One of the students got out of the car, approached the stopped car, and hit the driver in the face several times. The other student filmed the conflict.
Later, the Skoda driver was diagnosed with a broken nose. Mammedgurbanov and Allaberdiev were arrested. The issue of initiating a criminal case for "Hooliganism" is being considered. After serving their punishment determined by the court, the students face deportation from Russia.
The Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan, Guych Garaev, warned students at Saratov State University in the fall of 2023, particularly against violating traffic rules. The diplomat stated that students should not cram into a dirty Lada and drive around the city. He cautioned that in case of traffic violations and other issues in Turkmenistan, they would be "waited for at the airport."
