The final national stage of the International competition for young readers "Living Classics" took place at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat, where 15 schoolchildren competed for the opportunity to perform at the international level. The online publication "Centralasia.news" reported on the event.
Participants were required to demonstrate their reading skills by reciting a prose work. Alongside Turkmen schoolchildren, readers from 60 countries will participate in the "Living Classics" competition. The finalists recited excerpts from works by Chingiz Aitmatov, Anton Chekhov, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mikhail Sholokhov, and Alexander Fadeyev.
Representing Turkmenistan at the international stage of the competition in Russia will be Sofia Orazova, an 8th-grade student, Matvey Gulyanitsky, also an 8th-grade student, and Rustam Gudrutullaev, a tenth-grader.
