The head coach of the Turkmenistan national football team, Mergen Orazov, has shared his expectations for the upcoming match against the Iranian team in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup. According to the online publication "TurkmenPortal," the coach emphasized that despite the unsatisfactory result of the previous game against the Iranian team, Turkmen athletes are properly motivated for the new game and have every chance to approach the high level of their opponents.
It was noted that based on statistics, ball possession in the previous match against the Iranian team was roughly equal in terms of time, indicating a good level of passing. Following the match in Tehran against the Iranian team, the head coach stated that the mistakes made were taken into account, problems were examined, and possible solutions were identified.
The match between the Turkmenistan and Iran national teams in the 4th round of the second qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup will take place on March 26 at 20:00 local time at the "Ashgabat" stadium.
