Turkmen weightlifter Maxad Meredov has secured three silver medals at the World Cup in weightlifting taking place in Thailand. The news was reported by the online publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
Maxad earned the medals in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total in the weight category up to 81 kg. Competing against 8 athletes, he successfully lifted 142 and 146 kg in the snatch, finishing the exercise in second place. In the clean and jerk, Maxad executed two successful attempts at 175 and 182 kg. With a total of 336 kg, the Turkmen weightlifter outperformed the bronze medalist of the 2023 Grand Prix in Havana, Samuel Gertin from Canada, by 13 kg, and trailed the winner Ri Jon Son from North Korea by 38 kg. The tournament in Phuket will conclude on April 11th.
